The bigger problem arose when the structures were to be incorporated in the thesis because their placement required appropriate space in a document being typed on electronic typewriter. Although placing the structures symmetrically was an issue I resolved it by placing two templates perpendicular to each other. Being good in arts and drawing I quickly learnt the art of drawing the chemical structures using the templates and Stredler pen. Sanjay Batraĭrawing the chemical structures before we started using ChemDraw was little cumbersome. He said the rest are losing money for their clubs despite the growth in revenues, which reached 6 million euros ($6.4 million) for the league last season. Vilches argued that only Barcelona, which has won the last four domestic titles, two of the last three Champions Leagues, and has two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, has a women’s team that is economically sustainable. That struggle has included other gains such as having games televised, more attention from the local sports media, and the all-powerful Real Madrid finally fielding a women's team in 2020. The creation of a women's league independent from the federation was a landmark moment for women's sports in the soccer-crazed country. and of course we don’t want to look the other way.” “We were one of the first (sports bodies) to denounce (Rubiales), and our president has backed that up by speaking out as a question of her convictions,” Vilches said. And he fears that could be compounded by the strike. Vilches said that Spanish and international companies which have shown interest in becoming new sponsors of the league are concerned with the turmoil caused by Rubiales. “And it is true that all the focus is on the Liga F, but we have been honest and offered the maximum that we can." ![]() “Winning the Women’s World Cup was an extraordinary success, which unfortunately practically nobody is talking about in Spain or the rest of the world because we are only talking about the situation of Luis Rubiales,” Vilches told the AP. To start with, missing the first two rounds will cost clubs between 800,000 to 1 million euros ($857,00-$1 million), he said. Liga F chief executive Pedro Vilches said that strike will hurt the league just when it should be taking advantage of the increased interest in women’s soccer. Its executives are now concerned that the strike could end up tarnishing its image and lead to fans, and potential sponsors, associating the labor dispute with the Rubiales controversy. Liga F started as Spain’s first fully professional women’s league last season. “Maybe the league does not consider this to be the best timing, but the players have considered that it was key.” “Our players consider that after the Women’s World Cup title and the worldwide attention that women’s soccer has received it was a good moment to stand up, fight for their workers’ rights, and demand that the sport received the support it needs to truly develop,” Vega told The Associated Press. Of 334 female players, 80 players made under 20,000 ($21,400) euros a year, while the average salary was around 40,000 euros ($42,800), according to the league.įor Keka Vega, a former player representing the AFE player’s union, the widespread condemnation of Rubiales in Spain - and abroad - has provided an ideal scenario for players' quest for a fairer shake. The minimum salary for the women’s league is 16,000 euros ($17,400) before taxes, compared to the 182,000 euros ($197,000) guaranteed for men in La Liga. It also has drawn attention away from the greatest achievement in the history of Spanish women’s soccer, which has undergone spectacular growth over the last decade but still is fighting for a pay raise that, if granted, would still be just a fraction of what's paid in the men's La Liga. The Model 154 was launched by a DC-130 Hercules director aircraft, and recovered in midair by helicopter. The YJ97 was derived from a General Electric demonstrator engine designated the "GE1". ![]() ![]() The aircraft was powered by a General Electric YJ97-GE-3 turbojet providing 4,000 pounds (1,815 kg) thrust, with the engine exhaust mixed with cool air to reduce its infrared signature. The leading and trailing edges of the wings had inset triangles of a radar-absorbent material. It was built using a high percentage of plastic composite materials, which had a lower radar reflectivity than metal. The sides of the fuselage are sloped flat to deflect radar signals. A ground radar would need to be directly below the drone to detect it, but by the time it is detected, the aircraft is travelling away, which makes tracking difficult. The Model 154 had an engine on the top of the fuselage to reduce its radar cross-section and infrared signature as seen from below, as well as twin inward-canted tailfins to conceal the exhaust stream. Twenty-eight had been built, including 20 production models.ĭesign An AQM-91 under the wing of a DC-130 The project was highly secret, but on 4 August 1969 one of the prototypes failed and parachuted to ground inside the Los Alamos nuclear research complex during lunch hour. The Model 154 program lingered on for a few more years, but in 1973 all were put in mothballs, and scrapped a few years after that. Satellite reconnaissance capabilities had improved through the 1960s, leading to the first launch of the advanced KH-9 Hexagon satellite on 15 June 1971, which provided strategic intelligence without diplomatic consequences. In July 1971, President Richard Nixon began a diplomatic effort to build ties with China, and reconnaissance overflights were cancelled. However, by this time the need for the Model 154 had vanished. Testing concluded with the Model 154 exceeding its altitude requirements and proving almost invisible to radar. Flights were resumed, culminating in long-range evaluations in late 1971. Test flights were halted for a few weeks while procedures were reviewed. The Air Force released a statement that the aircraft was a "high altitude target". Unfortunately, it didn't land in a restricted area, and local newspeople were able to take and publish photographs of the aircraft. The project was highly secret, but on 4 August 1969 one of the prototypes failed and parachuted to ground inside the Los Alamos nuclear research complex during lunch hour. The test flights were conducted over the US Southwest. The name "Firefly" was resurrected from the early Model 147 program for the new drone, though it was also referred to as " Compass Arrow" after the program name. The basic design concept resembled that of the Model 136 Red Wagon drone that Ryan had proposed earlier in the decade, but which had been turned down in favor of a modified Firebees. Ryan won the competition in June 1966, and the new design was designated the "Model 154 / AQM-91A Firefly". ![]() The USAF was interested, and opened up a design competition, with Ryan competing with North American Aviation. After discussions with the CIA that went nowhere, Ryan pitched their advanced reconnaissance drone concepts to the Air Force in early 1966. Ryan pursued advanced drone concepts on a part-time basis. Such requirements spelled out a completely new design, not a modification of a target drone. US intelligence thus needed a long-range drone with a high degree of survivability. In particular, the Chinese nuclear development facility at Lop Nor was far out of reach of the Lightning Bugs, and was barely within reach of the Lockheed U-2 spyplane, which had become far too vulnerable to SAMs. The Ryan Model 147 Lightning Bug reconnaissance drone was enjoying success in Vietnam in the early 1960s, but it lacked the range to fly deep into China and back out again. The Ryan AQM-91 Firefly was a developmental drone developed during the Vietnam War to perform long-range reconnaissance, especially into China. ![]() The same general principles as listed above should be applied. ![]() Type of fracture line - transverse, oblique, spiral, comminuted, segmental. We utilized a simple modification that allowed for closed reduction and percutaneous pinning of displaced RO fractures. Proximal humerus fractures often occur in older patients after a low-energy fall. Further, traditional reduction methods proved to be ineffectual for this fracture pattern. We found increased rates of soft tissue compromise including antecubital ecchymosis and AIN palsy in this fracture type. This study introduces a previously undescribed supracondylar humerus fracture subtype: the RO fracture. Compared with non-RO type III fractures, RO type III fractures had higher rates of AIN injury (P=0.047), antecubital ecchymosis (P=0.007), and overall soft tissue injury (P=0.009). When comparing RO with non-RO type II fractures, there were no differences in soft tissue injury (P=0.439). Compared with non-RO fractures, the RO fracture group had significantly higher rates of anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) palsies (P=0.013), antecubital ecchymosis (P=0.018), and compartment syndrome (P=0.043). Overall cohort rates of preoperative soft tissue injury included antecubital ecchymosis 16.8%, nerve palsies 15%, and vascular compromise 6.4%. All displaced RO fractures were able to be closed reduced with a modification to the traditional reduction sequence. The RO fracture pattern was seen in 12 patients. Two hundred ninety-nine consecutive patients were reviewed. Associated neurovascular injuries were compared between groups. Patients were categorized into RO and non-RO groups for analysis. Retrospective evaluation of operative supracondylar humerus fractures treated at a tertiary pediatric hospital from 2014 to 2016. We hypothesized that the RO pattern would be associated with greater soft tissue trauma. The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical and radiographic characteristics of the RO and non-RO patterns of supracondylar humerus fractures. This pattern presents a challenge during closed manipulation utilizing traditional reduction maneuvers. Humeral fractures account for 8 to 10 of fractures in dogs and 5 to 13 of fractures in cats. We describe a reverse oblique (RO) pattern in which the distal fragment has a prominent anterior spike that is displaced posterior to the proximal fragment. Sagittal profile descriptions of supracondylar humerus fractures are limited. |
